The (original) Backroom Boys, Dave Broadfield and John Owen, are a guitar, violin and vocals duo who's repertoire contains a broad range of musical influences.

Their live performances comprise of songs and instrumental pieces and audiences will experience a variety of styles including traditional Anglo/Irish folk music, Blue Grass, Blues, Swing, Cajun, Country, Jazz and original compositions.

Dave and Owen have gained a wealth of musical experience over the years, and are greatly respected for the professionalism of their live performances, they have played extensively throughout the UK and overseas.

Their act is well received by a wide range of audiences and the duo regularly play at folk clubs, festivals, pubs, clubs and both corporate and private functions.

Guitar & vocals

Dave, once an art lecturer now dedicates his time to making music. He has played in numerous bands over the years and been involved in the folk scene around the midlands, he has maintained a steady out-put of original material and his main influences are various types of folk music, blues, country and jazz.

 

John Owen

Violin

At the age of fifteen Owen played first violin for the Midlands Youth Orchestra and this classical training brings an added dimension when directed to other styles of music. He has worked with many different musicians over the years including ELO, Sean Cannon of the Dubliners, Red Sovine and Barbara Fairchild. He has also worked as a session musician and his violin playing can be heard on various recordings including Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized.
